(CBN NEWS) -- Thousands of people around the world honored young adults and teens with special needs and disabilities for the 10th annual "Night to Shine."

The event was created by the Tim Tebow Foundation in 2015 to share the love of God in a practical way.

"We believe in Jesus as our greatest example, our how, and the answer. He loved us enough to give everything so that we could be reconciled with Him, and as Jesus accomplished His mission to save us from sin and separation from God, He also saved us for the mission of spreading the Gospel and loving people," Tim Tebow explained on X.

Joe Biden, after America's staunch Middle East ally Israel was attacked by Hamas terrorists last Oct. 7, emphasized the nation is standing with Israel in its war on terrorism.

But the statements quickly faded and Biden more and more has been giving Israel, through Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, instructions on what it should be doing.

Withdraw from one region, making accommodation for civilians in another, allowing more time, providing more resources, and much more, Biden instructions have insisted.

But Israeli leaders aren't necessarily at his beck and call, and he's finding that frustrating.

Just in the last few days Biden had objected to a planned Israeli military operation in Rafah, in southern Gaza, instructing Netanyahu that no plan should go ahead without a "credible" plan for protecting a million people "sheltering" there.

A "senior administration" official told reporters some 1.3 million people are in the city who have "dire humanitarian needs."

Israel's goal has been to accelerate operations so that there is a path to its goal of eliminating the terror threat that Hamas provides.

Biden officials have warned that Israel's plans are too much and more attention must be paid to Biden's desires for progress on a cease-fire and a way to halt the shooting entirely.

Now the Daily Caller reports Biden is losing what patience he had, and has been delivering angry and insulting outbursts against Netanyahu.

The report said three sources told NBC that Biden reportedly has been calling Netanyahu an "a******" in various conversations.

Benjamin Netanyahu

As the Israel-Hamas war rages on in the Middle East, Biden has been "venting" against Netanyahu because Israel has not been following Biden's instructions as he wants, the report said.

Biden has been under pressure from antisemitic individuals and groups around the globe, including in Congress and in the State Department, to reduce or eliminate support for Israel.

Subsequently, Biden's characterizations have changed, and recently he called Israel's work "over the top."

A White House spokesperson claimed then that the president's position "hasn't changed."

WND previously reported on Biden's foul-mouthed outbursts, including those against President Trump.

It was then Biden called the Israeli leader, a "bad f***ing guy," according to Biden.

It was the Jerusalem Post that cited a column from Politico that described Biden's egregious actions.

The name-calling happened in a private conversation, the report said.

Biden's White House denied it.

An Al-Jazeera journalist, Muhammad Washah, has been accused by the Israel Defense Forces of being not just a journalist, but also a senior operative for the terrorist Hamas organization in Gaza that butchered some 1,200 Israeli civilians on Oct 7, 2023.

A report from the Daily Caller said IDF intelligence agents recovered a laptop computer in the northern Gaza Strip and the images show Washah was involved in Hamas' "anti-tank missile array" as well as research on drone technology.

Those details were provided by IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee.

On social media, Adraee said, "A laptop that belonged to Muhammad Washah, an [Al Jazeera] journalist, was recovered by IDF in the northern Gaza Strip. It has pics proving he also serves as a senior Hamas military operative in the anti-tank missile array and in late 2022 he moved to work on R&D of aerial weapons for the organization. Intelligence analysis carried out on the computer includes photos linking subject to his Hamas activity."

IDF officials also posted photos that were reported found in the laptop, and they appeared to show Washah working as a journalist for Al-Jazeera as well as posing with anti-tank weapons.

The IDF statement, in Arabic, noted, "Who knows how many details we will reveal about the presence of other terrorists in journalistic garb in the near future.”

It continued, "Hey [Al-Jazeera], we thought your journalists were supposed to give unbiased reports on situations, not actively participate in creating them…"

The gun used in Sunday's shooting at Joel Osteen's church in Texas reportedly had a pro-Palestinian message written on it, and the shooter has been identified as Genesse Ivonne Moreno, 36, an immigrant from El Salvador who has used male identities.

KHOU-TV in Houston reports "Moreno had a criminal history dating back to 2005, and previously identified as Jeffrey Escalante, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety records search. Prior arrests include failure to stop and give information, assault of a public servant, assault causing bodily injury, forgery, possession of marijuana, theft, evading arrest unlawful carrying weapon."

ABC News reports "Palestine" was written on the long rifle belonging to a man dressed as a woman who opened fire at the Lakewood Church in Houston, according to a law-enforcement official briefed on the investigation.

"A motive behind the Sunday afternoon shooting has not been determined. Sources said investigators are feverishly going through the social media and writings belonging to the suspect," the network indicated.

As WND reported Sunday, a suspect wearing a trench coat and packing a long rifle opened fire at the celebrity pastor's megachurch while thousands of people were inside the facility.

The 7-year-old boy critically injured in the crossfire was the child the shooter brought to the church. He was shot in the head and is "fighting for his life," Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said Monday.

Also injured by gunfire was a 57-year-old man who was shot in the leg. Officers killed the shooter at the scene.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said, "I will not make any assumptions because information continues to come in as to what motivated the shooter, but I am asking that the investigation look into whether it was a hate crime, given the shooting took place at an all-Spanish service."

"We all stand with the Lakewood congregation as they recover from this terrifying day and with the young child and adult who are known to have been hurt in the shooting," Hidalgo added.

"It could have been a lot worse," Osteen told reporters. "We're devastated."

"We don't understand why these thing happen, but we know God's in control."

"We're gonna stay strong and we're gonna continue to move forward. There are forces of evil but the forces that are for us, the forces of God, are stronger than that."

"So we're going to keep going strong and just, you know, doing what God's called us to do, lift people up and give hope to the world again."

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called the shooting "tragic."

Is the news we hear every day actually broadcasting messages from God? The answer is an absolute yes! Find out how!

"Our hearts are with those impacted by today's tragic shooting and the entire Lakewood Church community in Houston," Abbott said. "Places of worship are sacred."

It was a much more peaceful scene earlier Sunday morning, as Lakewood Church posted photos of congregants coming to worship, along with the message: "In Scripture, Jesus fed the multitudes, gave sight to the blind, and raised the dead. Jesus still works miracles today, arranging divine connections to heal everything in your life.

"Welcome to Church this morning! We love seeing you all!"

Editor's note: This story was updated to clarify the sticker on the shooter's gun said "Palestine," according to police, not "Free Palestine."

Two Israeli hostages in Gaza were rescued during a raid in the city of Rafah on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Monday.

IDF troops on the ground rescued the two hostages during a nighttime raid on Sunday that involved firefights with Hamas operatives and airstrikes across the region, IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a statement on Monday. Israel continues its months-long war against Hamas in Gaza in an effort to eradicate the terrorist group and rescue the over 130 hostages remaining in the region.

The two hostages freed were Fernando Simon Marman and Louis Marman, two Israeli-Argentinian citizens, according to Reuters.

“Last night, we brought Louis and Fernando home,” Hagari said during a press briefing on Monday. “This was a complex rescue operation under fire in the heart of Rafah, based on highly sensitive and valuable intelligence from the Intelligence Directorate and the Israel Security Agency.”

The IDF breached the building in Rafah where Marman and Har were being held by Hamas and immediately engaged in a firefight with the terrorist operatives, Hagari said. IDF soldiers protected Marman and Har from the firefight and quickly moved them out of the building, airlifting them out of the region and providing them with medical care at the Sheba Medical Center in Israel.

“Alongside the excitement, even this morning after the successful rescue operation, we do not forget for a moment that in Gaza, 134 hostages are still being held,” Hagari said. “I want to address you this morning: if you are listening to me, know that we are determined to bring you back home.”

Israel has carried out a sweeping counteroffensive against Hamas in retaliation for the terrorist attacks against the nation on Oct. 7, killing over 1,200 civilians and kidnapping hundreds of others. The Israeli government has been at odds with the Biden administration over the scope and duration of the war.

The Whitefish Bay business, Mixed Bag MKE, celebrated "Swiftie Super Bowl Eve Party" on Saturday, Feb. 10, a day before the big game, by selling products to commemorate the Super Bowl, but was met with some controversy over the items being sold.

The group gathered outside the store with signs mentioning love for God, as well as "blasphemy" and "sacrilege."

Pastor Joel Osteen reacts to a shooting at his Houston, Texas, church on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024.

UPDATE: Joel Osteen church shooter is transgender whose gun packed big political message

The shooter who opened fire Sunday at Joel Osteen's church in Texas is dead, authorities say.

"Officials in Houston say a five-year-old is in critical condition and another man is injured following a shooting at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church. Another man was injured. The suspect is dead," reported the Houston Fox affiliate.

"It's heartbreaking," said Fox 26 reporter Abigail Dye.

"It's hard to find another word other than evil to bring a child to a church [for a shooting]. I have chills just thinking about it."

"We're not sure why any of this would happen in the first place."

The suspect reportedly drove to the church with the 5-year-old child, and carried a long rifle under a trench coat and entered the church between services, shouting about a bomb.

But Houston Fire Chief Samuel Pena explained later at a news conference: "We have not found anything that is of concern to our community or to our nation."

The young boy injured in the crossfire was the child the woman brought to the church. Also injured by gunfire was a 57-year-old man. Officers killed the shooter at the scene.

"Our hearts are with those impacted by todays' tragic shooting and the entire Lakewood Church community in Houston," Abbott said. "Places of worship are sacred."

One woman who was reunited with her loved ones noted: "The worship team, they were singing when the incident happened."

Law-enforcement authorities began tweeting about the situation while the shooting was unfolding.

"Shooter is down," Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote on X as the scene was unfolding. "But it does not appear that@HCSOTexas deputies fired shots; other agencies fired."

"We continue to assist in a methodical/thorough search of the complex."

It was shortly after 2 p.m. Central Time that Gonzalez announced there were "possible shots fired at/or around Lakewood Church."

Is the news we hear every day actually broadcasting messages from God? The answer is an absolute yes! Find out how!

And within the hour, police confirmed the scene was, in fact, the church of the famous evangelist.

"The active scene is at Lakewood Church on the SW Fwy service road. Traffic is very heavy near and on the service road," Houston Police wrote on X.

"Please avoid the area and use alternate routes. We have PIOs en route to the scene and will provide any and all updates here."

The Lakewood Church itself stated: "There is an active situation involving shots fired at Lakewood. Law enforcement is on the scene."

"That is all the information we have at this time. Please pray for Lakewood and our community."

(SPORTING NEWS) -- There is no better opportunity for advertisers than the Super Bowl, which is watched by an average of more than 100 million Americans each year.

Naturally, the price of running a commercial during the game is enormous. A 30-second ad is estimated to cost about $7 million for Super Bowl 58, on top of the money it takes to create what are often elaborate commercials designed to grab headlines.

Viewers who watched Super Bowl 57 took note of a commercial with this tagline: "He Gets Us." This year, the ad campaign will have two separate commercials run during the CBS broadcast.

But this week, along with football and Sunday's big game, Purdy has been talking about his faith.

During a press conference, a Sports Spectrum reporter asked the San Francisco quarterback about his faith in Jesus, and what Bible verses he had been reading that may have helped him through the season.

"Yeah, for me this year, it's been Psalm 23," Purdy answered as he paraphrased the verse. "The Lord is my Shepherd. I have what I need. He lets me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters."

  • Nearly half of the U.S. is weighing bills that would make assisted suicide legal, showing signs that the debate among Americans regarding one’s ‘right to die’ is growing.
  • Virginia lawmakers recently voted Tuesday to push forward a bill to the state Senate that would allow doctors to euthanize patients diagnosed with terminal illnesses, while another in Arizona would allow a patient to direct a doctor to withhold food and water.
  • “To address each of their needs and alleviate their suffering, patients deserve high quality medical, palliative, and hospice care – not suicide drugs,” Bishops Michael Burbidge and Barry Knestout of the Diocese in Richmond, Virginia, said in a statement.

Lawmakers in 19 states are debating legislation this year that would make it legal for a doctor to provide life-ending treatment for patients diagnosed with terminal illnesses.

Currently, assisted suicide is legal in the United States in Oregon, Washington state, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, New Jersey, Vermont, Hawaii and Washington, D.C. Bills to expand access to the procedure have been proposed in 19 states this year, showing a growing interest in the debate of a doctor’s role in helping a patient end their life.

Assisted suicide was first made legal in Oregon in 1997 with Vermont, Washington State, Montana and California following soon after. New Mexico was the most recent state to adopt the measure in 2021, allowing patients with six months to live or less to take their life after going through a mental competency screening process and, if they pass that, a 48-hour waiting period, according to KQRE News, a local media outlet.

The new bills, however, are coming from all over the country in states like Arizona, Virginia, Tennessee and New York. Officials in Virginia passed a bill, allowing patients with a terminal illness to request a doctor provide a “self-administered controlled substance” to end their life, through the state Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee Tuesday and will likely vote on the legislation in the Senate in the coming days, according to WUSA9, a local media outlet.

Proponents of the bill argue that individuals should be able to make choices about their lives for themselves, including when they die. Democratic Rep. Jennifer Wexton of Virginia, who suffers from progressive supranuclear palsy, wrote a letter in support of that argument which was read to the state Senate in January.

“There are 1000s of Virginia’s dealing with terminal illnesses facing unthinkable challenges and choices because of these devastating health conditions,” Wexton wrote. “That is why this legislation is so critical. It is a vital step allowing Virginians to gain the dignity, freedom and peace of mind we deserve in the face of a tragic terminal illness like mine.”

On Sunday, however, Bishops Michael Burbidge and Barry Knestout of the Diocese in Richmond, Virginia, released a statement saying that the Catholic Church was “alarmed and deeply saddened” and encouraged the congregation to contact their elected officials to raise concerns about the bill.

“People facing the end of life are in great need and must be accompanied with great care and attentiveness. To address each of their needs and alleviate their suffering, patients deserve high quality medical, palliative, and hospice care – not suicide drugs,” the statement reads.

In the 23 years that the procedure has been legal, 5,330 people have died in the U.S. due to assisted suicide and 8,451 Americans received a prescription for the medication, according to a 2022 study published by the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.

Another bill in Arizona would allow a patient to write a “living will” that would give a doctor permission to withhold “food and liquids” from the patient. The bill would also give a physician immunity from “criminal or civil liability” when making “good faith health care decisions based on the provisions of an apparently genuine living will,” which detractors argue may allow a doctor to starve a patient even if the patient is asking for food.

The U.S.’ neighbor, Canada, which has dramatically expanded assisted suicide access over the last several years, indefinitely halted part of its medical assistance in dying (MAID) program, which allows people with mental illnesses to legally commit suicide, after a lack of psychiatrists were willing to sign off on the medication under those terms, according to The National Catholic Register. The MAID program was first approved in 2016 and was only allowed for a person whose death was “reasonably foreseeable” while suffering from a “grievous and irremediable medical condition” but was later amended to include mental illnesses such as depression.

Some have expressed concerns that the U.S. is heading in a similar direction. In a 2023 article for the American Journal of Bioethics, Daryl Pullman, a research professor of bioethics at Memorial University, referenced Grant Gillett, also a professor of Biomedical Ethics at the University of Otago in New Zealand, who said that when people want a “quick and tidy solution” for a complex problem like depression or terminal illness, “Euthanasia is just such an answer.”

“The analysis offered here demonstrates that not every proposed approach to managing this complex human problem will necessarily result in the abandonment of moral judgment, but moral judgment must both inform and be constrained by the law. Canada has much to learn from the US in this regard. Conversely, the US should keep a wary eye on Canada so as to avoid the precipitous slide now happening there,” Pullman concluded.
